Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information (CCPA/CPRA)
Last updated: August 13, 2026
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), California residents have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information and to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information.
CollegeNPC.com, operated by Hot Key Media LLC, participates in affiliate programs and displays school listing widgets operated by third-party partners. When you submit a form through a partner widget, we may receive confirmation that a submission occurred for tracking and payment purposes, but we do not receive or store the personal details you entered. In addition, third-party services we use (for example, affiliate tracking and embedded widgets) may set cookies or collect identifiers. These activities can be deemed a “sale” or “sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising” under California law and “targeted advertising” under certain other state laws.
Nothing on this page overrides the full Privacy Policy. For details on our data practices, see the Privacy Policy.
Your Rights
Subject to verification and legal exceptions, you may:
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
- Opt out of targeted advertising (where applicable outside California).
- Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information.
- Limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, if collected.
- Appeal a decision if we deny your request (where required by state law).
We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
How to Opt Out
1. Browser and Tracking Controls
- We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where legally required. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we will treat it as a valid opt-out for that browser.
- You can configure your browser to refuse third-party cookies. CollegeNPC.com does not set its own tracking cookies.
2. Email Opt-Out
Send a request to [email protected] with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.” Include your name, the email address and phone number you used on our site, and the state you reside in.
3. Partner Widgets and Forms
If you submitted a school information request through a widget displayed on our site, please note:
- CollegeNPC.com does not directly collect, store, or process the personal information entered into these widgets.
- The widgets are hosted and operated by our affiliate partner or the school itself. Your submission is transmitted directly to them.
- We may receive confirmation that a form was submitted for tracking and payment purposes, but we do not have access to the personal details you entered.
- Because we do not hold your personal data from these submissions, we cannot fulfill access, deletion, or correction requests for it.
- To exercise your rights, submit requests directly to the school or partner organization that received your information. Their privacy policy governs how your information is used once submitted.
4. Device and Platform Settings
- iOS: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Tracking, then turn off “Allow Apps to Request to Track.”
- Android (Google): Settings, then Google, then Ads, then opt out of Ads Personalization.
- Adjust interest-based ads on major platforms (Google, Microsoft, Meta) in your account settings.
Submit Access, Deletion, or Correction Requests
Email [email protected] with:
- Your name
- Contact information used on our site (email and phone)
- The type of request (access, deletion, correction)
- Any relevant identifiers (for example, the page or widget you used, and a date range)
Verification: We may require you to verify your email or phone and may request additional information to reasonably verify you are the consumer about whom we collected personal information. If you use an authorized agent, we will require proof of the agent’s authority and may ask you to verify your identity directly with us.
Response Time: We will respond within 45 days where required by law. If reasonably necessary, we may extend an additional 45 days and will inform you of the reason for the extension.
Appeals (where applicable): If we deny your request, you may submit an appeal by replying to our decision email with “Appeal” in the subject. We will review and respond as required by law.
Scope and Important Notes
- Children: We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
- Sensitive Personal Information: We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit under California law. If this changes, we will provide a “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information” mechanism.
- State Laws Outside California: Where required (for example, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah), we offer opt-outs for targeted advertising and sales consistent with those laws. Use the methods above; we will apply them as required in your state.
- Nevada: Nevada residents may email [email protected] to opt out of the sale of covered information under Nevada SB 220.
- Browser and Device Specific: Cookie-based choices apply to the specific browser and device you use. Repeat these steps on each browser and device.
- Third Parties: When you click out to a school or partner site or submit a partner-hosted widget, their privacy policies govern further use of your information. Submit requests directly to those entities as well.
